Item description

Akumajo Densetsu / Castlevania 3 (悪魔城伝説) is one of the best Famicom games ever made. A side scrolling action adventure game with vampires. And if you have only played the NES version you are missing out.

From Wiki:
Besides just the different title, Akumajō Densetsu, the Japanese version has several other differences. Most notably, the original Japanese version contained a specialized "VRC6" coprocessor chip. The game's audio programmer, Hidenori Maezawa, assisted in the chip's creation. This chip added two extra pulse-wave channels and a saw-wave channel to the system's initial set of five sound channels. The majority of the music combines the channels to imitate the sound of a synthesized string section. Western versions of the NES did not have the ability to support external sound chips, so the North American release replaced the VRC6 with Nintendo's Memory Management Controller 5 (MMC5). The MMC5 chip's sound channels cannot be used with the NES, and the game's music had to be downgraded by Yoshinori Sasaki to comply with the NES's standard five channels.

No Japanese needed to play.

The game has been tested on an actual Famicom system and plays great. The photo uploaded is of the actual game I am selling. Check the condition before buying. Make sure that you have the necessary hardware to run Japanese Famicom games before buying. This cart will not run on an unmodified NES system. It should run on most Famicom clones but I cannot guarantee it's compatibility.

Loose Famicom carts will be wrapped in a removable plastic sleeve and then placed in a bubble wrapped mailer for shipping. Boxed or fragile games will be cushioned with bubble wrap or newspaper and put in a larger box. Please remember, the games will ship from Japan so please allow some additional shipping time. Also during Japanese postal holidays (New Year's, Golden Week, Obon) orders will be delayed while the post office is closed.
